     1.  What does AZDOHS do?

The Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) acts as the Cabinet-level office within the State government of Arizona for the prevention of and preparation for potential terrorist events as well as other hazards. AZDOHS partners a diverse set of federal, State, local, private sector and Tribal entities by taking an "all-hazards" approach to reducing risk and vulnerability while bolstering first responder capabilities and increasing Arizona’s resiliency.

AZDOHS is responsible for several key homeland security functions including:
  • Implementation of Governor Brewer’s Border Security Plan
  • Management of Arizona’s homeland security grants
  • Protection of Arizona’s critical infrastructure
  • Expand interoperable public safety communications
  • Collaborate with Arizona’s Tribal Partners on homeland security efforts

     3.  Where can I find information about passports?

While we work closely with our partners in Washington, D.C., the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) is part of the government of the State of Arizona and is not part of the federal government. Therefore, we are unable to assist with any matters relating to passports, foreign travel, travel restrictions or travel advisories.

     6.  How do I report suspicious activity?

You can help protect Arizona by being aware of suspicious activity and reporting it to the proper authority. You can watch a video called the “8 Signs of Terrorism” to become familiar with what is considered suspicious and what to report.

To report suspicious activity, contact the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC) Tip Line by calling 877-2-SAVEAZ or 877-272-8329. Reports can also be made online using this form. All reports are kept confidential.

     8.  How do I get on your approved vendor list?

The Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) does not procure products directly and does not suggest or recommend any products, services or vendors to anyone receiving our grant funds.

If you would like to market your products and/or services directly to the agencies receiving funds, you may do so by contacting each governmental agency individually. Questions about the State of Arizona procurement process should be directed to the State Procurement Office at (602) 542-5511.

     9.  Where do I report someone who is hiring illegal workers?

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office is the agency in Arizona that receives complaints against employers not adhering to the State’s Employer Sanctions Law.  For more information on this law, visit the Arizona Attorney General’s Frequently Asked Questions page.

    10.  How can I contact someone in the ICE holding facility?

AZDOHS is a division of the State government of Arizona and is not part of the federal government.

The agency best suited to assist you is the United States Federal Government’s Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of Detention and Removal Operations (DRO).

The Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS) partners with the Arizona Division of Emergency Management to address the emergency preparedness training needs of homeland security stakeholders and federal homeland security grant recipients in Arizona.
